FAQ: The charging with EVSE KIT and cable

The question are related to the Charging plug J1772 with cable (16 Amp, 5m) incl. electronics J1772-EVSE

  • What is the nominal power rate setting for the EVSE with cable?
The nominal setting is 16Amp (at 230V AC).

  • How can I change the setting of the charging current?
See the explanation here: Setting different charging current limit (button)

  • If I change the setting, will the new setting be retained for future use?
If you keep the cable plugged, the setting will be retained. If you unplug the cable and reconnect again, the setting will go back to the nominal 16Amp. Warning: We do not recommend increasing the current above the 16 Amp.

  • I have a Nissan leaf with a 32 Amp charger (6.6 kW), can I use this cable to charge the Leaf at full power?
No, the cable is designed for up to 16 Amp. If you overload the cable with a higher current the components inside of the EVSE will be damaged.   We strongly discourage from changing the setting to more than 16 Amps.

  • What is the minimal charging current?
Depending on the type of your vehicle, the minimal charging current is usually 5Amp. (The setting bellow 5Amp will set the 5Amp current)
