FAQ:  30 year warranty on solar panels - how possible?

Question: The warranty for solar panels is up to 30 years. How do I know that your company will be here in 30 years (2045) and that I can apply my warranty?

Answer: At GWL, we truly hope that our company will be working for many years and will keep helping people.

However, we wish to clarify that the operational (functional) guarantee of the effectiveness for the solar panels is an insurance type of obligation of the manufacturer (not of the distributor or reseller).   It does not mean that in 2045 you will bring your old solar panel and get a new one in exchange.  The manufacturer gives specific details on terms of the operational (functional) guarantee.

Also note that this type of the operational (functional) guarantee makes sense only for large installations of hundreds or thousands of panels per site. In such situations most investors open loans from banks and the bank will ask for the formal insurance of the operational (functional) guarantee form the manufacturer. The manufacturer will issue the guarantee confirmation document that is backed up by the insurance company. This means that even in case the manufacturer ceases to operate, the insurance company will cover the proceeds resulting from the claims on the operational (functional) guarantee.

For example see details of the functional guarantee from Schutten company, one of our suppliers.
