What kind of balancing is provided by BMS2405?

Most ordinary BMS systems provide the passive balancing at the end of the charge cycle, when the voltage reaches the full charge or balancing level voltage. The BMS2405 (with support for LTO cells) has a different operation of the cell balancing.

The BMS2405 makes a continuous balancing (9/10 time) of all individual cells at any time during the charge process (or recuperation process). The setting allows to set the Cell voltage difference (setting No. 14) – as soon as any cell is outside this difference (against the lowest cell) the BMS will start the balancing of this cell.

The balancing is done with up to 500mA current. The only limitation is the total heat dissipation of the BMS 2405 main board.  That is why the BMS is designed to be mounted on a high volume metallic surface that will conduct away the heat. Additionally it may be possible to install optional ventilators to increase the heat release from the BMS main board.
