Arduino Relay Extension Board

Arduino Relay Extension Board

This is one of the tips related to operating the power electronics.   High current switching components using magnetic coils require high peak currents.

When using low power control electronics (like Arduino boards, or the   GWL/Modular CPM board) the switching components cannot be connected directly to these boards. Direct connection will burn the small MOSFET transistors on the boards.

There is a need to connected “mid-range” size relays that will provide separation between the sensitive electronics on the board and the high current rating components used for switching.

Additionally, these extension boards provide another layer of the galvanic separation between the control circuits and the power circuits. Also, as in the case of the CPM, when connecting more CPM boards (for more than 16 cells), you need   to observe the galvanic separation between the two boards   - due to the grounding potential on the lowest cell connected to each board. In this is situation you can use relays from different boards to control the same high- power switching component.
